Anatomy of a Skeif
Skeif of Stormlands are dog-sized cape-winged mountain reptiles from the foggy plains and high ridges of Stormlands. Their wings evolved to function more like capes, shielding them from rain and cold while they travel cliff paths and windy plains. They live in communities, forage from all over, and make simple dishes from corals that grow everywhere (and work like our mushrooms), plants, insects, and meat they hunt.
there are few Skeif known to live in the forests of rain, info about their wellbeing and other biomes is unknown, as few dare to roam Stormlands too far...
Names are different and unique in each society, the Mountain Skeif like to name by favorite plants and things, Rainforest Skeif however, have names more similar to the Na'vi (blue avatar movie)
Nesting (Breeding)
To make an Egg, a pair needs to make a nest first
Each parent contributes materials to the nest (things they hold dear, things they would think their kids would like and anything they think is good for their egg), with some part of their body like a scale, fur, feather placed together in the middle
And then an egg is made! 🪺
Environment
Talkeetna Mountains of Alaska, Dolomites mountain, Arabel Plateau - are the IRL locations of the reference pics, these locations suit where they live
Skeif usually live in caves on these mountains
Magic-Born Skeif
Magic-born is a mutation among many more obtained through Summoning AND/OR Nesting
Magic-born Skeif posses 1 type of any minor (weak) magic, what qualifies as minor magic?:
✅ Ability to manipulate water up to the size of their own shape, Ability to float all rocks in a small area around the Skeif and move them
❌ Ability to manipulate big bodies of water and make big waves or drain an entire lake, Ability to float more than 1 huge boulder and move it as if it was nothing
AYA
Aya is an entity and Ruler of all Skeif, it can shapeshift and switch between the (only) 2 alternative universe of Feral Skeif & Anthro Skeif freely, often changes its form to appeal to the current universe its in. Usually seen as blue, cosmic-colored with clouds and stars on its skin, and always in the shape of a Skeif.
Aya is seen as a protector, a watcher, a deity, and to some, an enemy

Nesting-only Traits
Some traits are only obtained through Nesting, and cannot be obtained through Summoning, these traits include:
Rhino horn merging with any other horn (example in picture), Fluff traits stacking, and some tails made from combining different tail types together (like whip tail + long tail to get a split tail, etc...)
